Nicole Strasburg

Nicole Strasburg Home Decor Artist

Nicole Strasburg seeks to capture the emotion of the landscape in paintings that reflect rather than reproduce nature. Working from sketches and photographs taken in the field, she builds her images with successive layers of painting, wiping, sanding and scraping. The technique engenders depth and movement that enable her, as she puts it, "to convey the immensely powerful, yet quietly mysterious elements" of her surroundings.

Slide 0: PINE TRAIL PAINTING
$850.00
Santa Barbara, CA landscape artist Nicole Strasburg's work celebrates the vast outdoors, endless horizons and a sense of personal sanctuary. As she says of this painting, "Our family cabin is located in the midst of the Los Padres National Forest where there are miles of hiking trails. In California, where so much of the landscape is dry, open stretches of yellow waving grasses, the pine forest is a magical place to cool off and have time for green therapy. The species of pine in our area are Jeffrey Pines that when heated from the summer sun or cooling in the early evening, emanate an intoxicating smell of vanilla or butterscotch." Made in USA. Exclusive. Unframed, oil paint on birch panel, equipped with a cleat for hanging. 12" sq.

Slide 1: WINTER LAKESIDE PAINTING
$850.00
Santa Barbara, CA landscape artist Nicole Strasburg's work celebrates the vast outdoors, endless horizons and a sense of personal sanctuary. As she says of this painting, "'Winter Lakeside' is inspired by our family mountain retreat. The mountains offer fast-moving storms, miles of pine trees and sweeping views. My husband and I spend a lot of time walking the trails with our two border collies who have claimed the area as their own. January and February are two of our favorite months when snow is often in the forecast, the lake is frozen and the wood burning stove works overtime." Made in USA. Exclusive. Slide 2: BLUE TIDE PAINTING
$3,000.00
Santa Barbara, CA landscape artist Nicole Strasburg's work celebrates the vast outdoors, endless horizons and a sense of personal sanctuary. As she says of this painting, "Santa Barbara is a special place to the indigenous Chumash Indians because of its geography. Not only is it surrounded by beautiful mountains, it is also one of the only places on the California coastline that runs East to West rather than North to South. I spend a lot of time walking the shore with my two border collies. The days here can be crystal clear at the beach or a marine layer can sit just off the coast. 'Blue Tide' is an image of a favorite surf spot on a day that was cool but had just enough sun to keep the fog sitting offshore." Made in USA. Exclusive. Unframed, oil paint on birch panel, equipped with a hanging wire. 14"W x 36"L.

Slide 3: SPRING MEADOW PAINTING
$2,875.00
Santa Barbara, CA landscape artist Nicole Strasburg's work celebrates the vast outdoors, endless horizons and a sense of personal sanctuary. As she says of this painting, "This is my family's favorite mountain meadow. It is beautiful and inspiring no matter the season. This was a rare spring that warmed early and all the willows and sedge were out celebrating the warm sun. Jeffrey Pines surround the grassy expanse and the California willow bloom and fade with the seasons. The greens and golds of the mountain landscape are a welcome change from the blue sea and sky at ocean level." Made in USA. Exclusive.
