Though the origin of this vintage necklace is unknown, it is likely Old Pawn, meaning it was bartered for goods at a trading post in the Old West. Handcrafted of sterling silver, it has a distinctive chain and cross which is accented with hand-stamped designs and rare Lone Mountain turquoise set in hand-cut sawtooth bezels. By repeatedly heating, cooling, shaping and hammering a single sterling ingot, the artist known only as Buffalo has handcrafted the centerplate of this ketoh bracelet, embellishing it with traditional lozenge-shaped repousse, custom stamp work and a hand-selected turquoise. According to traditional Native American beliefs, an arrow pointing to the left wards off evil. Buffalo, the celebrated southwestern artist, places two such arrows in his handcrafted ketoh, or bowguard, bracelet. Forging the centerplate from a single sterling silver ingot, he accents it with custom stamp work, lozenge-shaped repoussé and a square of turquoise. Stamped sterling silver buckle; leather strap.
