Retail Buyer


Job Overview:

The Retail Buyer is responsible for all facets of product selection, assortment, and building vendor relationships in the category. Works closely with the Senior Director and merchandising team to ensure selection and vision meets the high standards of quality and authenticity of the brand as well as item count and margin. Accountable for category performance, quality, uniqueness and price value relationship while adhering to the company's merchandise process and calendar. Develops business strategies that maximize the development of the brand, sales and gross margin in the home category in our retail division.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identify a mix of products by season that ensure the Sundance aesthetic is delivered and tells a cohesive product story within our retail stores
  • Maintain relationships, resolve issues, and conduct negotiations with vendors as necessary (domestic and overseas)
  • Follow a strict assortment plan and operate within the strict guidelines of the merchandising process and calendar
  • Implement and execute the plan to assure that ultimate performance meets the sales, margin and profitability to space expectations for the home category in the retail division
  • Participate in post-mortem meetings and meet with the Senior Director and merchandising team on a regular basis to review in-season and post-mortem sales information. Leverage this information to improve retail performance
  • Plan, schedule, and participate in buying trips as well as store visits
  • Review and validate item copy blocks and artist stories in a timely manner, per the calendar
  • Responsible for maintaining and/or improving the overall return rate. Act as a customer advocate for product quality

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required
  • Minimum of five years' experience as a buyer working in a corporate retail environment; preferably in a department or specialty store environment
  • Previous category experience in home décor and/or furnishings
  • Global sourcing experience preferred
  • Design background preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills

Merchandising Assistant


Job Overview:

The Merchandising Assistant will assist the Fashion team in managing tactical merchandising aspects of the business. Maintains product databases focused on data entry of assortments and communicating accurate product information to other departments. Helps analyze and solve problems and meet department deadlines.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Fashion team to analyze business: prepares hindsight reports and boards for all merchandising meetings.
  • Point person for production questions, item information, etc.
  • Responsible for compiling and maintaining accurate product information and the product MAP.
  • Responsible for maintaining product information sheets and distributing to other departments.
  • Assist Fashion team with vendor communication.

Assistant Jewelry Manager


Job Overview:

We are seeking an individual to assist us as we open our newest retail store in Southlake, TX. The Assistant Jewelry Manager collaborates with the store management team in driving store sales by offering outstanding customer service, persistent attention to detail in supervising the jewelry department, and general support to the management team. Train the staff in jewelry product knowledge including making them aware of new items, top sellers, special artisans, and their unique relationship to Sundance. Manage jewelry inventory cycle counts on a regular basis as is specified by company policy. Assist the management team in store opening, closing and general floor supervision as scheduled and needed. We are seeking an individual to assist us as we open our newest retail store in Fairfax, VA. The Assistant Store Manager partners with the store management team in driving store sales by offering outstanding customer service, persistent attention to detail on the operational side of the business. Assist in the selection, training, motivation and development of a team capable of executing tasks, and maintaining the standards of a world-class retailer. Must effectively supervise all aspects of operations in the store, this includes sales, service, scheduling, payroll management, budgeting, receiving and housekeeping. Must be actively engaged in merchandising the store and helping execute where needed, as well as maintaining a positive energetic work environment. Duties & Responsibilities:

Customer Service/Sales

  • Customer service is essential and you must always lead by example.
  • Listens to customers and uses their feedback to improve service levels in the store. You will be the customer service and sales leader of the store. You are responsible for resolving issues in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Achieves budget sales, payroll and inventory goals. Analyzes sales trends and develops plans and schedules to maximize profits and minimize costs.
  • Executes operational tasks as directed, with a keen eye on the bottom line profitability of the store.
  • Must be familiar with all operations of the store and able to pitch in where needed.
  • Consistently exceed the expectations and requirements of both the internal and external customer.
  • Provides ongoing sales and product training for the staff to achieve sales goals
  • In addition to assisting the Store Manager in the above tasks your key responsibility will be to focus on sales and service in the store. You along with the Store Manager are the liaison between the store, the store associates, and with the Support Office.

Store Teams

  • Is dedicated to assisting the Store Manager in recruiting, hiring and training a talented store associate team. Active in product knowledge training of the staff and encouraging a store environment where turnover is kept to a minimum.
  • Provides challenging goals and assignments to ensure all associates are trained and performing to company expectations.
  • Motivates and develops associates by providing frequent developmental discussions, product training, sales and service techniques. Assists in writing and delivering store associate reviews.

Standards of Operations

  • Maintains disciplines for visual standards, store cleanliness.
  • Monitors inventory procedures, and sees that shrink goals are met.
  • Consistently enforces all company policies and procedures. Performs opening/closing procedures and ensures bank deposits are done daily.
  • Keeps open and responsive communication with District Manager as well as the Store Manager.
  • Responsible for an area of the business to be determined by the Store Manager.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Associates degree in a related field, BS or BA preferred
  • Five plus years retail management experience, including previous specialty retail experience with management responsibilities
  • Experience with a premium brand retailer
  • Experience in an environment where customer service is highly regarded
  • Computer literacy including use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point

Must effectively supervise all aspects of merchandise in the store, including in-stock position, tracking key item movement and executing visual merchandising directive. Must be actively engaged in store operations and maintain a positive energetic work environment. Consistently demonstrate and uphold the Sundance culture with the utmost integrity.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Customer Service/Sales

  • Consistently exceeds the expectations and requirements of both the internal and external customer
