Retail Buyer


Job Overview:

The Retail Buyer is responsible for all facets of product selection, assortment, and building vendor relationships in the category. Works closely with the Senior Director and merchandising team to ensure selection and vision meets the high standards of quality and authenticity of the brand as well as item count and margin. Accountable for category performance, quality, uniqueness and price value relationship while adhering to the company's merchandise process and calendar. Develops business strategies that maximize the development of the brand, sales and gross margin in the home category in our retail division.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identify a mix of products by season that ensure the Sundance aesthetic is delivered and tells a cohesive product story within our retail stores
  • Maintain relationships, resolve issues, and conduct negotiations with vendors as necessary (domestic and overseas)
  • Follow a strict assortment plan and operate within the strict guidelines of the merchandising process and calendar
  • Implement and execute the plan to assure that ultimate performance meets the sales, margin and profitability to space expectations for the home category in the retail division
  • Participate in post-mortem meetings and meet with the Senior Director and merchandising team on a regular basis to review in-season and post-mortem sales information. Leverage this information to improve retail performance
  • Plan, schedule, and participate in buying trips as well as store visits
  • Review and validate item copy blocks and artist stories in a timely manner, per the calendar
  • Responsible for maintaining and/or improving the overall return rate. Act as a customer advocate for product quality

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required
  • Minimum of five years' experience as a buyer working in a corporate retail environment; preferably in a department or specialty store environment
  • Previous category experience in home décor and/or furnishings
  • Global sourcing experience preferred
  • Design background preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills

Merchandising Assistant


Job Overview:

The Merchandising Assistant assists the merchandising team in managing tactical merchandising aspects of the business. Maintains product databases focused on data entry of assortments and communicates accurate product information to other departments. Helps analyze and solve problems and meet department deadlines.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with the fashion and/or home teams to analyze the business by preparing information and reports for all merchandising meetings
  • Compiles and maintains accurate information within internal databases
  • Corresponds with vendors as needed on outstanding issues to ensure deadlines are met
  • Collaborates with the product development and design teams to coordinate processes
  • Acts as the point of contact for item information, production questions, etc.
  • Verifies catalog and website copy is accurate
  • Review and validate item copy blocks and artist stories in a timely manner, per the calendar

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a retail or catalog environment preferred
  • Previous merchandising, buying or product development experience preferred

Designer, Dresses and Special Occasions


Job Overview:

The Designer of Dresses and Special Occasions will drive business in day dresses, special occasion dresses and separates. Responsible for designing and creating day dresses and special occasion dresses in women's apparel that are leading in design, innovation, function and quality, while also being reflective of Sundance's design philosophy and standards. Will work directly with the Design Director presenting preliminary design research, competitive understanding, final design concepts, fabric and trim recommendations. This is a highly visible position that will make presentation boards for meetings, color CAD's while maintaining the design T&A process and line management.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for following through from design to inception, handing off the final detailed design, ensuring designs are complete and on time
  • Full ownership of the apparel design process while working in conjunction with the Design Director to fill and expand upon the ideas required to complete the line plan
  • Research markets, trends, and fabrics in order to generate original ideas and innovation
