Though most people think of topaz as a golden yellow gemstone, topaz occurs in a number of colors, including red, brown, green, pink and shades of blue. Its blue color is often intensified by irradiation. The name "topaz" comes from the Greek word meaning "to shine," and to ancient Egyptians, its golden color symbolized their sun god Ra.
Many curative powers have been ascribed to topaz, and it has been seen as a source of strength. At times it has been described as cooling tempers, restoring sanity, curing asthma, relieving insomnia and warding off sudden death. It was said to make its wearer invisible in an emergency and to prove its wearer's loyalty by changing color in the presence of poison.
Found mainly in Brazil, Nigeria and Sri Lanka, blue topaz is one of the accepted birthstones for December, as well as the gemstone for the 4th wedding anniversary. It is also the state gemstone of Texas.
Sterling silver is a white, highly reflective precious metal composed of 925 parts of pure silver and 75 parts alloy, usually copper. Copper provides the silver with sufficient hardness and wearing qualities, as pure silver is sometimes considered too soft to be used or worn everyday. Sterling silver is used in a wide variety of jewelry for a beautiful polished look.
HOW TO FIND YOUR RING SIZE:
Cut a strip of paper several inches long, similar in width to the ring you are ordering. Wrap the strip around your finger. Mark the place where the paper meets. With your ruler, measure the distance between the mark you have made and the beginning edge of the paper. Refer to the chart below:

Too tall for someone who uses her hands all day

This ring is as pictured and absolutely gorgeous. The silver work was great--very detailed and feminine. The stone is lovely. But it is very, very tall and as I used my hands a lot at work and home (I am an artist and writer), I couldn't wear the ring without a lot of banging and clanging around.
It's a GREAT ring--but think about whether or not you can have such a large object on your fingers all day long, 24/7. I couldn't--but that was me.
