Labradorite occurs in metamorphic and igneous rocks and is in the feldspar category. The name is derived from the main source for this gemstone, which is Labrador, Canada. The ground color is dark smoke grey and when light strikes it in a particular direction, it displays striking rainbow-colored reflections. These flashes of violet, blue, green or even orange and red are known as labradorescence. Spectrolite is the trade name for a brightly colored variety of labradorite found in Finland.
Often regarded as a transformational stone that heals and balances the aura, labradorite is said to be protective during vulnerable growth stages and intense transitions.
Labradorite is frequently cut into gemstones or used as an ornamental material for carving and engraving. |

Standard delivery for jewelry-only orders is 5-7 business days and is a flat rate of $9.95 for shipping and handling. Faster delivery is available for an additional $3 for 2nd Day Air service, $13 for overnight service and $17 for priority overnight service. If your jewelry merchandise total is over $1,000 we will waive the shipping and handling costs. If you choose Overnight Delivery, additional charges will apply. Jane Diaz sees each of her handmade pieces as an expression of her life experiences. Her academic focus on fine art, anthropology and dance was born of a longtime passion for ritual and ornamentation. Together, her interests led her from New York City to Nepal, where traditional metalworking techniques inspired her original designs. More than 20 years later, Nepali artisans still craft her entire collection of wearable ornaments, each a one-of-a-kind celebration of art and culture.
