Based on some of the previous reviews, I was a little wary about ordering these boots. Well, let's just say, they are my new favorite boots. I have what I would call "average" sized ankles, and while they were a little tight at first when pulling them on (I quickly figured out how to position my foot so that I could pull them on within about 10 seconds), within a few weeks they had stretched enough (but they do NOT look/appear stretched out) that I can easily pull them off an on now. I'm an 8 and ordered a 8...they run true to size in my opinion. I love these boots, and I would order more in a heartbeat if they offered other colors.
