Maple woods are divided into two groups: Hard maple and soft maple. It has been a favorite of American furniture makers since early Colonial days. The color is cream to light reddish-brown. Usually straight-grained and sometimes found with highly figured bird's-eye or burl grain. Maple has excellent resistance to abrasion and indentation and takes stain satisfactorily and polishes well. This wood is heavy, hard, strong, tough, stiff, close-grained and possesses a uniform texture.
An alloy of copper and zinc, brass is usually yellow in color, therefore sometimes mistaken for gold. Some types of brass are called bronzes, despite their high zinc content. |

Furniture and Large Item Orders
Due to the large size and weight of furniture shipments, most pieces are shipped by a freight company. You will be notified by mail 2-3 weeks before delivery, and the carrier will contact you by phone to set up a 4 hour window for the appointment. Deliveries are Monday through Friday. These shipments are delivered through your doorway. Because home furnishings, rugs, lamps and other large items are heavier and bulkier than most, shipping costs are higher. A delivery surcharge has been added to these items; this charge is listed in parentheses ($) after the product price and is in addition to the order shipping charges. All shipping rates apply to deliveries in the contiguous 48 states; shipping rates to Alaska, Hawaii, US Possessions and foreign countries require a quote. Certain delivery areas may require an additional cost and may have specific days for delivery. Assembly is available for an additional charge.
