Our Product Story
Nylon is the generic term for man-made fibers composed of long chain synthetic polyamides derived from coal and petroleum. Known for its high strength and elasticity, Nylon is also abrasion, rot and mildew resistant. It has a low water absorption rate and is quick drying. These characteristics make it a great material for outerwear, hosiery, lingerie, sleepwear, sweaters, carpet and upholstery.
Though spandex first appeared in the Eighties, it became associated with tight, shiny workout wear and faded from favor. Now, some 20 years later, spandex has become everyone's favorite blending fiber and has pretty much replaced all other elastomeric fibers.
Spandex is being used in a constantly expanding range of clothing, as designers and consumers discover that a small amount of spandex adds a lot of ease and comfort, as well as resistance to wrinkles, perspiration and body oils. It is often blended with dress and suiting fabrics to create a lighter, crisper fabric that travels well.
To give you some idea of spandex's power, it can stretch up to 600 times its length, yet bounce right back to its original shape and structure.Consequently it's ideal for foundation garments, since it provides comfortable control.
Spandex enhances the best qualities of whatever fabric it's blended with, resulting in a smoother silhouette, a curvier shape, a more fluid, flattering line.
