Our Product Story
Peridot is the birthstone for August. This lovely transparent yellowish green to deep chartreuse stone was a favorite of the ancients, who considered it quite a powerful gem. An aid to friendship, it was also believed to free the mind of envious thoughts. And, if worn on the left arm it would protect the wearer from the evil eye.
It is popular today, but probably more for its depth of green color than its professed powers. While not particularly brilliant, the richness of its color, ranging from yellowish green to darker, purer green, is exceptional. It is available in small sizes; larger sizes are becoming scarce. It is not a hard stone and may scratch easily. Some stones may look like peridot (green sapphire, green tourmaline) and be mistaken for or misrepresented as peridot.
Sterling silver is a white, highly reflective precious metal composed of 925 parts of pure silver and 75 parts alloy, usually copper. Copper provides the silver with sufficient hardness and wearing qualities, as pure silver is sometimes considered too soft to be used or worn everyday. Sterling silver is used in a wide variety of jewelry for a beautiful polished look.
