Our Product Story
Cotton is cool, soft, comfortable and the principal clothing fiber of the world. Its production is one of the major factors in world prosperity and economic stability.
Cotton fiber is harvested from the cotton plant's seed pod. The fiber is hollow in the center and, under a microscope, looks like a twisted ribbon. "Absorbent" cotton will retain 24-27 times its own weight in water and is stronger when wet than dry. This amazing fiber absorbs and releases perspiration quickly, thus allowing the fabric to "breathe."
Hemp is a natural fiber possessing a number of interesting qualities. It is UV ray protective, hydrophilic, anti-microbial, stain and mildew resistant, and fire retardant. Needing fewer chemicals and pesticides than other natural fibers to grow efficiently, it can be a more eco-friendly crop to grow than cotton. Hemp can be cultivated in cooler climates, thus reducing the need for water. Hemp is four times stronger than cotton, and hemp clothing can be softer. Hemp is often blended with cotton.
