Our Product Story
Artist Jeanine Payer sifts through archives unearthing quotations of universal significance and snippets of poetry that summon powerful emotions. The words, hand engraved on precious metals in a diminutive version of her own graceful script, endow her delicate pieces with a kind of magic, so that each takes on the allure of a talisman graced with both beauty and wisdom.
Aquamarine, a universal symbol of youth, hope and health, blesses those born in March. Aquamarine is a member of the important beryl family, which includes the emerald, but aquamarine is less brittle and more durable than emerald. Aquamarine ranges in color from light blue to bluish green to deep blue, which is the most valuable and desirable color. It is a very wearable gem, clear and brilliant, and, unlike emerald, is available with excellent clarity even in very large sizes, although these are becoming scarce today.
Aquamarine derives its name from "sea water". It has long been considered a good luck charm for sailors. Aquamarine is also said to have a soothing influence on land, especially with couples. Its power to help them work out their differences and ensure a long and happy life makes it a good anniversary gift. Dreaming of aquamarine is said to mean you will meet new friends. Because aquamarine is an organic stone, it is not uncommon to see inclusions or character lines, which make each stone unique.
