Our Product Story
Polyester is the most widely used manufactured fiber in the Unites States. Woven polyester fabrics are used for apparel and home furnishings. Polyester is a synthetic fiber produced by the polymerization, the product formed when an alcohol and organic acid react. The outstanding characteristic of polyesters is their ability to resist wrinkling and to spring back into shape when creased giving them an advantage over natural fabrics.
Most of the world's cotton is grown using significant quantities of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. These inputs, along with many conventional agricultural practices, contribute to soil depletion and environmental degradation. Many of the environmental and social impacts associated with cotton production can be reduced or eliminated through the use of organic cotton cultivation practices.
Growing organic cotton starts with the soil. Living soil is the basis of the organic farm. It must be free of toxic chemicals for at least three years and enriched by compost and other organic matter. Cotton is grown without the use of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. Of all insecticides used globally each year, 25% of that amount is used on cotton. By supporting the farmers, fabric mills, sewing factories, and retailers of organic cotton, you can contribute to the shift in awareness and help secure the future of this important industry.
