Our Product Story
|
A primary goal of Sundance Catalog Co. is to preserve the environment. In this regard, we offer many pieces which are constructed of reclaimed wood. Rather than add to the depletion of natural resources, we utilize the products that come from old schools, barns and buildings. This adds character and principle to what would otherwise be a simple piece of furniture.
Pine: More than 100 types of conifers are indigenous to North America, which partly explains the prevalence of pine furnishings. These evergreens, which have needles and produce cones, are our most valuable wood source, as they provide much of the lumber used in building. The sap from some species can be made into turpentine. Pine is a soft wood, valued for its availability, durability and distinct grain pattern, as well as its casual, often rustic look.

Care Recommendations: Dust with a soft, clean cloth moistened with a high quality polishing agent. Dry dusting may cause microscopic scratches on the furniture surface. Do not use soap and water on wood furniture, as water can penetrate the finish and raise the grain on wood.
Use the same type of polish consistently; furniture finishes may become cloudy or streak if oil-based and wax-based products are interchanged. Change the dusting cloth frequently. Commercial polishing agents can help restore the shine to wood, repel moisture and add a pleasing scent to the room. They do not, however, replace moisture in the wood cells.
Try to arrange furniture out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources. Heat creates a chemical change in furniture finishes, which can result in white spots. Use protective pads and coasters. If spills occur, blot them immediately, do not rub.
