Our Product Story
A primary goal of Sundance Catalog Co. is to preserve the environment. In this regard, we offer many pieces which are constructed of reclaimed wood. Rather than add to the depletion of natural resources, we utilize the products that come from old schools, barns and buildings. This adds character and principle to what would otherwise be a simple piece of furniture.
The teak tree (Tectona grandis) is a tall deciduous tree that can grow to 150 feet in height. It is a moderately hard, immensely stable, easily worked and prized for its durability. Thus, it is widely used in building furniture. Teakwood is superior to all other woods for shipbuilding because it contains an essential oil that resists the action of water and prevents the rusting of iron.
