While Franklin implored a penny being saved (and we certainly now feel so inclined) ’twas Lincoln’s birthday centennial (c 1909) which led to his famous penny’s existence. Lincoln’s 2009 bicentennial inspired our best-of-all banks. We honor thrift, savings, and the oh-so handsome Lincoln penny. Our bank, richly copper plated, strong and as honest as Abe. Our Product Story
Copper is one of the oldest metals ever used and has been an important material in the development of civilization. It has a reddish color and takes on a bright metallic luster.
Copper is usually found in nature in association with sulfur. Pure copper metal is generally produced from a multistage process, beginning with the mining and concentrating of low-grade ores containing copper sulfide minerals, and followed by smelting and electrolytic refining to produce a pure copper cathode.
