Traditional rug or pillow hooking uses a hand hook, similar in shape to a crochet hook, to form a looped pile from fabric strips or yarn on an even-weave base fabric.
Velveteen is an all-cotton fabric with a short, close filling pile cut to resemble velvet. It may be made with a plain or twill back. Velveteen differs from corduroy in the arrangement of the floats of the pile filling which are scattered as regularly as possible instead of confined to one group of warp threads.
