Cotton fiber is harvested from the cotton plant's seed pod. The fiber is hollow in the center and, under a microscope, looks like a twisted ribbon. "Absorbent" cotton will retain 24-27 times its own weight in water and is stronger when wet than dry.
Glass beads have been made for about 9,000 years. They come in all shapes, colors, finishes, appearances. For most of their history, glass beads were more than a craft, more than an art. They were equivalent to money, and were traded.
An alloy of copper and zinc, brass is usually yellow in color, therefore sometimes mistaken for gold. Some types of brass are called bronze
