The idea for the "Eat" sign was first conceived during a trip to a Paris flea market when the artist noticed an Air France sign sitting by the side of a vendor table. "Eat", "Diner" and "Cafe" signs immediately came to mind. Each "Eat" sign is painted by an Amish craftsman who is known in the Lancaster County community as Rusty Merv.
