Our Product Story
Tourmaline is a modern gem, but it has nonetheless found its way onto the list of birthstones, becoming an "alternate birthstone" for October. Perhaps this honor results from tourmaline's versatility and broad color range. Or perhaps from the fact that red-and-green tourmaline, in which the red and green occur side by side in the same stone, is reminiscent of turning leaves.
A freshwater pearl is formed in the same manner as a saltwater pearl, whether natural or cultured. The term freshwater refers to where the pearl is formed, not how. The distinction between saltwater and freshwater is not as important in assessing pearls' desirability and durability as whether the pearls are natural or cultured.
Gold is a remarkable, precious metal, with an unparalleled combination of chemical and physical properties. The only yellow metal, its name comes from the Old English word for yellow, 'geolu'. As the only metal that forms no oxide film on its surface in air at normal temperatures means that it will never rust or tarnish.
